DNA Switchboard

Welcome to my DNA Switchboard, or central landing page for all of my DNA projects on the web. Links at the bottom can help you get to my various teaching and results pages, as well as a few useful DNA analysis tools. For those who are interested, I share a little of my background and how I got into genetic genealogy.

For many years, or even decades, I have been doing Theory Builder on the subjects of history, archaeology, and geology. In all my studies, a strong belief in Judeo-Christian scripture founded my hypotheses. My love of all ancient world cultures and a faith in their sacred books of history and religion allowed me to expand my studies to many additional areas.

Apart from these loves and studies of science and history, I've had a lifetime hobbie or passion for genealogy. Starting in my childhood and becoming very strong in my teen years, I had basically done some form of family history my entire life. My studies of ancient human origins gradually brought in an interest in DNA, as various studies of ancient peoples sought to unlock the power of the human genome to understand our ancient origins. Simultaneous with this founding research, groups such as FTDNA, Ancestry and others had begun developing commercial tests that allowed some limited attempts at correlating DNA and genealogy. Of these I was lightly aware, but my real study of DNA had its birth in archaeology and the history of ancient people and their movements and interactions.

Quite recently, my heart made a sudden shift on me and demanded that I put together these two passions. I suddenly found myself clearing up large blocks of time to study DNA as a genealogical tool, and how it could be used to trace back through your family history. My main focus has been Y-DNA, and how STR markers can be used to work backward toward an understanding of our ancestors' markers, as well as SNP testing and its tracing from most ancient times toward the present. Science has begun to unlocked how to span this gap, and I have felt a strong pull to add my own experience to the effort.

With such strivings toward something bigger, I have tried to dive into the small of seeing if I can help some fellow genealogists to see their own family history a little clearer. Toward this end I have put together a few simple webpages to share what I am learning, present some of our joint findings on the few genealogical lines we have investigated, and offer a few tools that have helped me make these series of numbers more useful genealogically.

I hope you find something you enjoy.
